Role Overview
The Vice President of an Industry Practice is a role that sits in our consultative selling career path called Sales & Growth. This position requires prior experience providing insights, market analysis or consulting that’s grounded in research or behavioral analytics.
This position is for those who have achieved a level of credibility in research and the Health & Life Sciences industry, who are capable of leading a consultative selling process from proposal through close and delivery.
Our Health & Life Sciences sector works closely with the pharmaceutical industry on some of the most important projects in the market today, ultimately providing strategic solutions backed by research, analytics and consulting that influence the strategy of pharmaceutical companies in the U.S. Our clients include large, mid-tier, and emerging pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
Escalent's Life Sciences practice is positioned for high growth and strong expansion, and we’re looking forward to hiring a new colleague to help us execute the work and support our continued growth within the sector. Base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $180,000, plus a Sales Incentive Plan. If this is not the right range for you, please check out our other openings. This position is 100% remote (you must be based in the United States).
Focus of this Role
- Work directly with current clients and new prospects to provide them with consultative solutions and services in areas such as customer experience, new product development, branding, communications and segmentation.
- Collaborate with a Managing Director, a highly driven Lead Generation team, and a supportive group of peers to grow and manage a multi-million-dollar portfolio. The potential for growth are tremendous as we have new MSAs and expanded capabilities to offer.
- Identify opportunities, field enquiries, track down the right people, develop the proposals, and follow through to get the deal done. Given your understanding of the industry, you are able to identify research and consulting opportunities in this space and develop plans to pursue them. You are able to facilitate effective proposals and favorably position us as the best choice for prospective clients’ data/research needs.
- Each day will be filled with a mix of working with new prospects while also supporting the continued growth of your existing clients/accounts. Every step of the way, you will be supported by a highly experienced team that are renowned for their flawless execution of the business you bring in, delivering on your client commitments and supporting your future growth.
Responsibilities
- Identify issues affecting clients/prospects and develop strategies to effectively manage issues.
- Recognize opportunities for growth and implement strategies that will enhance client satisfaction, company market share, revenue growth and profitability.
- Meet agreed budget and revenue targets.
- Develop, communicate and clearly execute sales strategies.
- Fully develop and utilize the company’s capabilities and position the company as a preferred provider to the customer.
- Effectively work internally with other business units of the company to develop compelling strategies to pursue any cross-sector leads, create proposals, and secure new business.
- Provide input to new research/data services to create / offer based on competitive analysis and emerging client needs you’ve observed.
- May participate in industry-specific conferences or organizations to build or enhance reputation as a competent resource to the clients in the industry.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor degree in a related field. An advanced degree is preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Proven track record of new business development in market research or analytical services within the clinical, pharma or life sciences industry.
- Keen observer of industry trends and needs, and how analytics or market research could be positioned to meet those client objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop business strategies to improve and grow business opportunities with multiple customers.
- Experience effectively using Salesforce.com or similar product – and use it diligently / willingly
- Demonstrates financial acumen to price and sell work that will have a solid margin.
- Ability to support existing engagements with a primary key account, while also pursuing growth concurrently.
- Uses effective planning skills to meet short and long-term objectives.
